WELCOME TO CAMP ONAWAY!
Founded in 1911, Camp Onaway is a technology-free, traditional summer camp for girls in Hebron, New Hampshire on the shores of crystal clear Newfound Lake. Our small, nurturing community is committed to the individual development of our 90 campers, ages 9 through 15.
Through creating opportunities for each girl to realize her full potential, not in comparison or competition with others, but through aiming consistently toward high standards, an Onaway camper comes to know her own strengths, her values, and her own goodness.
The small size of Onaway not only means a close community of campers and counselors, but also guarantees each girl will get the maximum amount of individual attention. For approximately 90 girls each summer, there are 6 to 9 aides (counselors-in-training) and 24 or more counselors. Each summer over two-thirds of the campers and counselors return to carry on the Camp traditions and values with loyalty and commitment.
Our daily program offers a high level of instruction in traditional camp activities accompanied by strong arts offerings. Onaway’s structured day ensures each camper the chance to try new things, helping her to build self-confidence and gain new skills.
Onaway offers one full session (7 weeks) where girls develop a deep sense of self through risk-taking in a safe environment, build lifelong friendships, and discover the power of living simply. We believe that campers need the full seven weeks to develop strong friendships, learn outdoor skills, and gain a sense of their own inherent spiritual qualities.
